Empowering Education – Transform Learning with The Jumpstarting™ Process

Since 2002, I have been driven by two passions: helping people and discovering new ways to achieve this goal. My journey into empowering others began when I faced a severe depression following a life-altering event. This experience left me searching for ways to move forward and regain control over my life.

My breakthrough came through training in NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), where I learned that our actions are guided by internal and external strategies. Understanding this interplay allowed me to transform my life and inspired me to help others do the same.

Over the past two decades, I have had the privilege of working with thousands of students, helping them overcome learning and motivational challenges. One of my most memorable experiences was working with a group of 40 students diagnosed with dyslexia at a local secondary school. My guiding question was, "What do I need to know to help these students succeed?"

Fortuitously, I was introduced to a process that not only improved basic word skills but also boosted confidence and self-esteem. This led to the creation of The Jumpstarting™ Process. Over the next decade, I trained teachers from over 70 primary schools, delivered Department of Education-approved summer courses, served as a guest lecturer at NUI Maynooth University, and worked with hundreds of children and their families.

My success would not have been possible without the trust and support of primary school principals who recognized the benefits of a visual-based learning system for visual learners. In 2013, one principal's staff became the first to be trained in this method, and they have never looked back. His advocacy for Jumpstarting™ has been invaluable, and I am forever grateful.

Despite the success, the biggest challenge I have faced is overcoming scepticism. Many educators find it hard to believe that such a simple process can be so effective. As a result, many teachers remain unaware of how incorporating this method into their teaching toolbox could benefit the 15-20% of students for whom phonics is ineffective. Fortunately, in Dubai, principals and teachers are more open and actively seek innovative ways to help their students.

My dream is for Dubai to become the first place in the world to address dyslexia differently, nurturing the strengths and overcoming the challenges of those with the diagnosis or symptoms using The Jumpstarting™ Process.

Running a training company comes with its own set of challenges. Two major lessons I have learned are:

  • Firstly, you cannot reach your goals alone. Collaboration, support, and openness are crucial for success.

  • Secondly, you must continually work on yourself. Each challenge is an opportunity to look within and discover who you truly are. Resilience, emotional strength, and mental agility are developed through overcoming adversity. Importantly, without passion, these challenges can be overwhelming. Passion is the fuel that drives perseverance and transforms obstacles into opportunities for growth.
