Reflecting on my life here in Dubai, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the profound wisdom and love shared by my family, especially my favorite uncle, Totong Terry Montefrio Jr. His remarkable journey as an Instrumentation Supervisor at Dubai Aluminium Company Limited (DUBAL) now EGA for over 40 years epitomizes dedication and expertise in one of the oldest/ world's largest aluminium smelters. Beyond his professional accomplishments, my uncle’s life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to family and faith.

His impact reached well beyond his 40-year career in Dubai. In the late 1990s, he gifted us with a piece of technological innovation: fiber optic lighting. This once-simple yet groundbreaking technology amazed us with its color-changing brilliance and cool, heat-free illumination. I still remember the wonder and excitement I felt with my sibling as these lights created stunning patterns and transformed spaces. While laser LEDs now lead with their brighter colors and efficiency, the early fiber optic lights continue to remind us that even small innovations can ignite remarkable progress. His gift symbolized more than just light; it embodied the spirit of creativity and transformation that reminds us that even small innovations can inspire us to dream big and achieve extraordinary things while of course with a balikbayan box full of chocolates from Dubai.

Yet, perhaps the most touching gift my uncle bestowed upon us was the introduction to music. “During a visit, he brought a VHS tape of an ABBA concert, a seemingly small gesture that became a cherished family tradition. This gift ignited a lifelong passion for ABBA, and today, I share this tradition with my own children through lively karaoke sessions and bonding over "Mama Mia" movies. This tradition not only connects us to our past but also enriches our family moments with joy and togetherness” Gladys Gigi Corrales reflects, this simple act of thoughtfulness created a legacy of connection and happiness that continues to bring our family closer.
Celebrating my uncle’s legacy underscores the vital importance of prioritizing family and cherishing every moment. His life, alongside the memory of my late father Andrebon Sr., influenced him and has also guided legacy commitment to sustainability. My late father’s initiative with him on Cold Mountain VCO virgin coconut oil marked the beginning of our family's dedication to environmental stewardship and holistic wellness and now exploring real estate and green farming, continuing our tradition of honoring the environment and promoting sustainability. He looks forward to spending more time with his family, passing on his knowledge and experiences to the next generation. He remains committed to his community and church, continuing to live by the values that have guided him throughout his life. Transition into real estate, sustainability, and passion for travel is a testament to the power of dedication, the support of loved ones, and the enduring strength of faith. It is a story that reminds us all of the importance of balancing professional aspirations with personal values and of the lasting legacy one can create through a life lived with purpose and integrity. This reinforced my belief that life is a precious gift meant to be celebrated. Their experiences have taught me to embrace every opportunity, nurture our relationships, and remain grateful for our blessings.
As I approach my 50s, I am eager to explore the world and embrace new adventures. From my unforgettable experience with my aunt Tita and cousins Chinkee and Kevin sleeping under the stars in the vast desert, camping, feeling the thrill of ziplining over breathtaking landscapes, and enjoying the serenity of island hopping, to savoring cinema and food and finding solace in church services, I am excited to immerse myself in diverse experiences. Each adventure is a testament to the vibrant tapestry of life and a celebration of the legacy my family has imparted to me. I strive to embody the principles they instilled in me, ensuring that true happiness and success stem from staying connected to my roots, valuing my family, and giving thanks for the life I am privileged to lead. I carry with me the lessons of my family and gratitude for inviting me here in Dubai for their generosity, love and care: to cherish every moment, prioritize family, and approach each day with gratitude and enthusiasm.

In closing, I am profoundly thankful for the influence of my aunt and uncle, especially uncle Totong Terry Montefrio Jr., and my family's enduring legacy. Their impact on my life and the traditions they have inspired continue to shape my journey, reminding me to embrace every opportunity with love, faith, and a deep appreciation for the precious moments we share together. Happy birthday uncle with my uncle Milner and Aunt Remy as July babies!
